Journal -- Day 40 -- Page 2 of Photos

Bill and Barbara Windsor's trip 'Round America covered 50 states and over 2,500 towns.
This Daily Journal provides the daily itinerary and captures experiences, observations, towns, sights, and more.

Old Motel in Afton, Oklahoma. Rest Haven Motel in Afton. This photo does not capture how ugly the tornado-filled sky was today.  It was a miracle that I escaped the tornadoes and the rain.
Chelsea Motel in Chelsea, Oklahoma. Old Will Rogers Hotel in Claremore, Oklahoma. The Rock Shop in Commerce, Oklahoma.
World's largest totem pole at Totem Pole Park in Foyil, Oklahoma. Totem Pole Park in Foyil.  Ed Galloway retired and spent the 7 days a week for the next 25 years building it. Totem Pole Park in Foyil.
Fiddles at Totem Pole Park in Foyil. Flats fixed. Gorilla at Kong's Korner in Sequoya, Oklahoma.
Cinderella's carriage at Cheapo Depo in Grove, Oklahoma. Giant cowboy in Grove.  This guy pops up everywhere -- variation of the Muffler Man. Trailerload of lighthouses in Grove.  I never realized there was such a big market for small lighthouses.
Coleman Theater in Miami, Oklahoma. Quapaw is still proud of Miss Indian 1999. Moose Lodge in White Oak, Oklahoma.  Many small towns have a lodge of some type.
Bingo at the Moose Lodge in White Oak. I spent one of the most interesting times on the trip at the Maysville Arkansas Handy Stop where I spoke with two chicken farmers and a RANCHER. The Maysville Post Office.
Chat pile near Baxter Springs, Kansas. Murphey's Restaurant in Baxter Springs. Heading east on Route 66 in Kansas -- it's a short trip.
Galena Museum in Galena, Kansas. Historic Route 66 in Kansas. Sunset over Hell's Half Acre in Galena.
Eisler Bros. store in Riverton, Kansas. Spring River Inn -- Riverton. Historic Route 66 in Missouri.
Route 66 East sign in Joplin, Missouri. Lois, Jordan, and Wynoka stopped on the side of the road just to give me ideas of sights to see on Route 66. Route 66 Carousel Park in Joplin.  The sign says "Open," but I couldn't find a soul.

  Ko Ko Motel in Joplin.
