| Daytona Motor Speedway | FL | Famous race track | Big place. |
| Daytona Beach | FL | Famous beach | Saw it. |
| Kennedy Space Center | FL | Space capital of the world | Drove by -- been there before. |
| Fort Lauderdale | FL | Spring Break capital of the world | Saw it. |
| South Beach | FL | Happening area in Miami | Enjoyed it. |
| Everglades | FL | Really big swamp | Didn't see a lot from the highway. |
| Overseas Highway | FL | Highway in The Keys | Cool. |
| Key West | FL | Tropical paradise; capital of the Conch Republic | Enjoyed it. |
| Busch Gardens | FL | Major amusement park | Drove by. |
| Panama City | FL | Infamous beach | Enjoyed it. |
| Biloxi | MS | Beachfront casinos | 100% win rate at the casino! |
| New Orleans | LA | French Quarter, Bourbon Street, Jazz, and more | Enjoyed the human statues. |
| Padre Island | TX | Great Texas beach | Saw it -- been there before. |
| Big Bend | TX | Huge national park area in Texas | Loved it! Day 18 |
| Carlsbad Caverns | NM | Home of a lot of bats | Photo of the entrance -- claustrophobic. |
| Continental Divide | NM | Divide | Crossed several times. |
| Tucson | AZ | Arizona city with a lot to see and do | Saw a doctor due to eye injury, so activities were limited. |
| San Diego | CA | Incredibly beautiful area | Loved it! |
| Queen Mary | CA | Really big boat | Saw it -- not as big as it used to be. |
| Disneyland | CA | Mother of all amusement parks | Drove by -- been there before. |
| Hollywood | CA | Sign, stars, streets, wax, and more | Disappointing. |
| Southern California | CA | Historic Route 66 | Drove it all, but nothing left that's old. |
| Lake Havasu City | AZ | London Bridge | Pretty amazing. |
| Grand Canyon | AZ | Grand Canyon | Spectacular sight. |
| Santa Fe | NM | Santa Fe | Gorgeous place. Loved the art. |
| Lubbock | TX | Texas Tech University, Buddy Holly Museum | We love Lubbock. |
| Oklahoma City | OK | Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building Memorial Park | The memorial is exceptional. |
| Branson | MO | Country music entertainment mecca | We skipped it as the traffic was just too bad on Easter Sunday. |
| Memphis | TN | Graceland | Thoroughly enjoyed all Elvis-related stuff, Sun Studios, and Karaoke! |
| Nashville | TN | Grand Ole Opry, country music out the wazoo | Opry only runs on the weekend, but the Country Music Hall of Fame was excellent. |
| Chattanooga | TN | Rock City | Skipped as I was in a hurry to get home -- will go back. |
| Gatlinburg | TN | Craft city | A wide variety of tourist attractions have relegated crafts to a secondary attraction. |
| Indianapolis | IN | Indianapolis Motor Speedway | Big and historic. I enjoyed visiting the infield area. |
| Cripple Creek | CO | Pike's Peak | Time did not allow this excursion off the primary route. It's a long way across Colorado and Utah. |
| Salt Lake City | UT | Temple Square, lots of Mormons | The Square and the Mormons are very impressive. I bet the crime rate is really low in Salt Lake City. |
| Las Vegas | NV | Casinos and a wide variety of entertainment | We really enjoyed Vegas. It is so much nicer than it was when we were last there together 20 years ago. |
| Malibu | CA | Rich folks' homes | You can't see much from the road, so we had to use our imagination. What we imagined was very impressive. |
| Hearst Castle | CA | Really big house | Incredible place. Unfortunately, we arrived too late for the full tour/ We've failed to get the full tour three times now. |
| Big Sur | CA | Breathtaking scenery | Beautiful place, though not as awe-inspiring as we expected it to be. Like the Hearst Castle, we had seen part of Big Sur before. |
| Carmel | CA | Beautiful 17-Mile Drive | Nice drive, but once again, not as impressive as we remembered it from 20 years ago. |
| San Francisco | CA | Fantastic city, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, more | Fantastic city. Son Ryan is here, so that's the best part, but we have seen so many different sights! |
| Redwood Forests | CA | Really really big trees | BIG trees. A sight for all to see. |
| Oregon Coast | OR | Beautiful scenery | Perhaps more enjoyable than the California coast as the drive is not as treacherous. |
| Mount St. Helens | WA | Volcano | From a distance. |
| Seattle | WA | Great city | Beautiful city with a lot to see and do. |
| Anchorage | AK | Another state checked off the list | A treat to be in Alaska, but not much to see or do. |
| Glacier National Park | MT | Big, icy park | Truly spectacular. Perhaps the most beautiful place we have ever been. |
| Mount Rushmore | SD | Amazing monument | What an amazing and inspiring place. |
| Chief Crazy Horse Sculpture | SD | Another amazing monument | Equally amazing and inspiring. A truly special treat to meet the lady in charge of the project. |
| Mackinac Island | MI | Very popular vacation area | Rained out. |
| Rock & Roll Hall of Fame | OH | Great music museum | Nice museum -- could be a lot bigger. |
| Niagara Falls | NY | Lots of water falling -- pictures do not do it justice | Exciting sight to see...for a few minutes. |
| Plymouth Rock | MA | Site where the pilgrims landed | Historic. |
| Boston | MA | Lots of history and a great TV bar | Rained out -- didn't see a thing. |
| Newport | RI | Beautiful seaside resort | Overcast and rainy, but a few sights were seen. |
| Ground Zero | NY | Saddest sight to see. | Very sad. |
| Atlantic City | NJ | Casinos, boardwalk, and more | Long, long Boardwalk. |
| Washington, DC | DC | Capital of our great nation | Shock and Awe -- so impressive. |
