Kennedy Space Center FL Space capital of the world Drove by -- been there before.
Fort Lauderdale FL Spring Break capital of the world Saw it.
South Beach FL Happening area in Miami Enjoyed it.
Everglades FL Really big swamp Didn't see a lot from the highway.
Overseas Highway FL Highway in The Keys Cool.
Key West FL Tropical paradise; capital of the Conch Republic Enjoyed it.
Busch Gardens FL Major amusement park Drove by.
Panama City FL Infamous beach Enjoyed it.
Biloxi MS Beachfront casinos 100% win rate at the casino!
New Orleans LA French Quarter, Bourbon Street, Jazz, and more Enjoyed the human statues.
Padre Island TX Great Texas beach Saw it -- been there before.
Big Bend TX Huge national park area in Texas Loved it!  Day 18
Carlsbad Caverns NM Home of a lot of bats Photo of the entrance -- claustrophobic.
Continental Divide NM Divide Crossed several times.
Tucson AZ Arizona city with a lot to see and do Saw a doctor due to eye injury, so activities were limited.
San Diego CA Incredibly beautiful area Loved it!
Queen Mary CA Really big boat Saw it -- not as big as it used to be.
Disneyland CA Mother of all amusement parks Drove by -- been there before.
Hollywood CA Sign, stars, streets, wax, and more Disappointing.
Southern California CA Historic Route 66 Drove it all, but nothing left that's old.
Lake Havasu City AZ London Bridge Pretty amazing.
Grand Canyon AZ Grand Canyon Spectacular sight.
Santa Fe NM Santa Fe Gorgeous place.  Loved the art.
Lubbock TX Texas Tech University, Buddy Holly Museum We love Lubbock.
Oklahoma City OK Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building Memorial Park The memorial is exceptional.
Branson MO Country music entertainment mecca We skipped it as the traffic was just too bad on Easter Sunday.
Memphis TN Graceland Thoroughly enjoyed all Elvis-related stuff, Sun Studios, and Karaoke!
Nashville TN Grand Ole Opry, country music out the wazoo Opry only runs on the weekend, but the Country Music Hall of Fame was excellent.
Chattanooga TN Rock City Skipped as I was in a hurry to get home -- will go back.
Gatlinburg TN Craft city A wide variety of tourist attractions have relegated crafts to a secondary attraction.
Indianapolis IN Indianapolis Motor Speedway Big and historic.  I enjoyed visiting the infield area.
Cripple Creek CO Pike's Peak Time did not allow this excursion off the primary route.  It's a long way across Colorado and Utah.
Salt Lake City UT Temple Square, lots of Mormons The Square and the Mormons are very impressive.  I bet the crime rate is really low in Salt Lake City.
Las Vegas NV Casinos and a wide variety of entertainment We really enjoyed Vegas.  It is so much nicer than it was when we were last there together 20 years ago.
Malibu CA Rich folks' homes You can't see much from the road, so we had to use our imagination.  What we imagined was very impressive.
Hearst Castle CA Really big house Incredible place.  Unfortunately, we arrived too late for the full tour/  We've failed to get the full tour three times now.
Big Sur CA Breathtaking scenery Beautiful place, though not as awe-inspiring as we expected it to be.  Like the Hearst Castle, we had seen part of Big Sur before.
Carmel CA Beautiful 17-Mile Drive Nice drive, but once again, not as impressive as we remembered it from 20 years ago.
San Francisco CA Fantastic city, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, more Fantastic city.  Son Ryan is here, so that's the best part, but we have seen so many different sights!
Redwood Forests CA Really really big trees BIG trees.  A sight for all to see.
Oregon Coast OR Beautiful scenery Perhaps more enjoyable than the California coast as the drive is not as treacherous.
Mount St. Helens WA Volcano From a distance.
Seattle WA Great city Beautiful city with a lot to see and do.
Anchorage AK Another state checked off the list A treat to be in Alaska, but not much to see or do.
Glacier National Park MT Big, icy park Truly spectacular.  Perhaps the most beautiful place we have ever been.
Mount Rushmore SD Amazing monument What an amazing and inspiring place.
Chief Crazy Horse Sculpture SD Another amazing monument Equally amazing and inspiring.  A truly special treat to meet the lady in charge of the project.
Mackinac Island MI Very popular vacation area Rained out.
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame OH Great music museum Nice museum -- could be a lot bigger.
Niagara Falls NY Lots of water falling -- pictures do not do it justice Exciting sight to see...for a few minutes.
Plymouth Rock MA Site where the pilgrims landed Historic.
Boston MA Lots of history and a great TV bar Rained out -- didn't see a thing.
Newport RI Beautiful seaside resort Overcast and rainy, but a few sights were seen.
Ground Zero NY Saddest sight to see. Very sad.
Atlantic City NJ Casinos, boardwalk, and more Long, long Boardwalk.
Washington, DC DC Capital of our great nation Shock and Awe -- so impressive.
Williamsburg VA Colonial town Big.  Great to see this restored and not turned into a giant gift shop.
Kitty Hawk NC The Wright Brothers Rained out -- did not see.
Outer Banks NC Miles of barrier islands Rained out -- did not see.
Myrtle Beach NC Major beach area World's Greatest Number of Miniature Golf Courses.
Charleston SC Beautiful city Beautiful place.
Atlanta GA Home Made it.
Honolulu HI Hawaii makes it 50!!! Paradise!
